Dr. Silvia Li Yao is a registered Singapore patent attorney with eight years of experience assisting innovators protect and strengthen their intellectual property. With an interdisciplinary research background spanning chemical engineering and electronics engineering, she works comfortably across artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech electronic devices, nanotechnology, and renewable energy.

Silvia began her IP career at one of Southeast Asia’s largest IP firms, advising startups, multinational companies, research institutes, and universities on patent drafting and prosecution, portfolio management, prior art searching and validity assessments. She later joined the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore as a Patent Examiner in the ICT division, where she conducted search and examination for Singapore and PCT applications in both English and Chinese. That patent office experience gave her a clear, practical understanding of examination practice and a view of technological trends.
