Kristian Robinson is a highly experienced patent attorney qualified in Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. With dual degrees in Chemical Engineering (Hons) and Chemistry, he combines deep technical expertise with more than two decades of leadership in Asia’s IP sector.
As former Managing Director of Southeast Asia’s largest IP firm, Kristian grew the practice into one of the most influential in the region. He was personally responsible for establishing and expanding offices in Singapore, China, Malaysia, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Manila, while building one of Asia’s most highly regarded professional teams. This regional leadership gives him rare insight into both the IP and business landscape across Asia, and into how multinational and local clients can best protect and leverage their innovation. His client-first philosophy — quality work, fair pricing, and delivering on promises — underpinned this growth and continues to define his approach today.
Kristian has advised across the full spectrum of patent law, from drafting and prosecution to complex enforcement strategies. He has handled matters in pharmaceuticals, advanced materials, polymers, green chemistry, and energy technologies, as well as engineering innovations. His work has included patent drafting that led directly to multi-million dollar licensing transactions, and cutting-edge filings in nanotechnologies such as nanofilm coatings and materials.
In addition to his legal practice, Kristian served for five years on the Board of Nanofilm Materials Technology Ltd, a Singapore publicly-listed advanced materials company. That experience provided him with board-level insights into how IP strategy shapes corporate governance, commercialisation, and investor value, a perspective he now brings to clients seeking to align patents with business growth.
Consistently recognised in leading rankings, Kristian has been named in IAM Global Leaders, IAM Patent 1000, MIP’s IP Stars, and WIPR Leaders for his expertise and influence in the Asia-Pacific region. He is a past President of the Association of Singapore Patent Attorneys, a Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trademark Attorneys of Australia, and a former member of the Board of Examiners for Singapore’s patent agent qualifying examinations.
Kristian founded Voyage IP to return to the independence, agility, and client focus that he believes were lost in corporatised firms. His vision is to deliver exceptional service at fair value, working closely with clients to build strong, commercially meaningful IP portfolios across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong. Known for his forthright and genuine style, he has built lasting friendships with clients and colleagues worldwide. A strong believer in mentorship, Kristian invests time in guiding the next generation of patent attorneys and innovators.
